Knight Run

Helping the Homeless

The Order of Malta Knight Run project supports the SIMON Community Welfare Clinic for the homeless providing food and supplies weekly in Dublin city centre.

The Knight Run was established as a pilot project in July 2014 by Order of Malta Ireland as an addition to the ongoing joint venture already in place between Dublin Simon and the Ambulance Corps.

The main objective of the project is to provide support and a friendly face to talk to for clinic users every Thursday, and over the past 2 years the project has proved hugely successful in supporting the Dublin homeless community, as well as driving traffic to the SIMON mobile clinic.

Each week, clients are provided with sandwiches, tea/coffee, soup, socks, underwear, clothes, toiletries and more.

Documentary Featuring the Order of Malta Knight Run

Dublin is one of the most prosperous cities in Europe, hosting a vibrant population. But it also has a growing, often hidden problem: homelessness.

This documentary looks at this issue through the eyes of one such person – Sharon. Through her words, we get to see the brutal realities of sleeping on Dublin’s streets, a lifestyle that is especially dangerous for women.

But, the documentary also highlights positive efforts to combat this issue. It features the work of the Order of Malta, specifically the Knight Run, which is an outreach where volunteers give their time to help the vulnerable on Dublin’s streets. This group works with other concerned organizations to help provide medical care, an ambulance, food, drinks, and most importantly, conversation and social interaction.

We aim to deliver a message of hope in difficult times and shows how we can all help those that are less fortunate than ourselves.
