Our Share to Care Project
The Order of Malta Share to Care project is a respite holiday camp that has been running since 2005. Based in the Share Discovery Village in Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh, the project provides respite holidays for disabled and disadvantaged young people and their families who are in need of a short holiday. Those taking part in the holidays have the support and reassurance of trained support staff on hand to help them 24/7. This allows families to have fun and be reassured that trained support is available should they need it.
For young people taking part in the camps, it may be their first opportunity to try and gain some independence and develop a network of friends. The Share to Care Project aims at providing care, helping participants to build a network of friends, and to give them support at the camp.
Some of the activities that attendees participate in over the weekends in the past have been sailing, canoeing, swimming, archery, wall climbing and arts and crafts. All meals and accommodation are provided for attendees and their families. Each weekend is designed specifically for those who will be attending.
All of our helpers at the camp are volunteers and fund their own trips. The camp is funded through our own fundraising activities as less than 10% is government funded.
While we fundraise in order to fund our camps, we still need support. If you would like to make a donation to the Share to Care project, please click the DONATE NOW!
