Order of Malta Deploys Ambulance Crews to Assist NIAS at Major Incident in Co. Down
October 8, 2024

The Order of Malta wishes to address the recent incident resulting in damage to our Westport Unit’s premises. We are deeply disappointed and saddened by the abhorrent act of vandalism that has affected our volunteers premises. While the damage is disheartening, we are relieved that no one was injured during the incident.

We also extend our sincere sympathies to our neighbors and the local car owners who have been impacted by this senseless act.

The Order of Malta is committed to the spirit of community and methal, and we stand in solidarity with all those affected.

We are humbled by and deeply grateful for the steadfast support shown by the local community during this difficult time. This outpouring of solidarity strengthens our resolve to continue providing our vital services undiminished, in line with our core mission to serve the Poor and the Sick.

Despite this setback, our dedication stands firm and unwavering. Our services to the community will continue without interruption. For decades, the Order of Malta has been a pillar of support to those in need in Westport and throughout the West of Ireland. This year, we proudly commemorate a significant milestone: the 80th anniversary of our continuous service to pilgrims on Croagh Patrick and to the people of Westport and beyond.

We are using this unfortunate experience as an opportunity to strengthen our resolve and deepen our community engagement. Our fundraising efforts for a new ambulance continue, and we remain focused on enhancing our service delivery for the benefit of all. We are confident that with the ongoing support of our community, we will overcome this challenge and continue to make a positive impact with renewed vigor.
